CoolSculpting Frequently Asked Questions
QUESTION: What makes a good candidate for CoolSculpting?
ANSWER: CoolSculpting is designed for individuals who have areas of unwanted fat that are diet and exercise-resistant. CoolSculpting is not a bariatric procedure intended to help those who are obese to lose significant weight. Rather, it is a non-surgical alternative to liposuction designed to target fat that is hard to get rid of. Many individuals who opt for CoolSculpting have stubborn areas of fat on their arms, chin, stomach, and back. If you have noticeable bulges of fat, you may be a good candidate for CoolSculpting. QUESTION: How much does CoolSculpting cost?
ANSWER: There are a number of factors that determine the cost of CoolSculpting, including the area of concern and the number of sessions needed to eliminate the fat. For a pricing estimate, contact Tuscaloosa MedSpa to schedule a consultation during which we will discuss your goals and establish a pricing plan.
QUESTION: How does CoolSculpting work?
ANSWER: CoolSculpting is an FDA approved procedure that uses controlled cooling to target and eliminate unwanted fat. During this noninvasive procedure, the CoolSculpting machine freezes the fat cells causing them to crystalize. These frozen cells die and then are naturally processed and eliminated by the body over time.
QUESTION: Does CoolSculpting hurt?
ANSWER: Pain levels vary per person, however, most patients report having experienced no pain from a CoolSculpting procedure. You can expect to feel pressure and extreme cold at the start, with decreased sensation as time goes on. For a distraction or to pass the time, we recommend reading, watching videos, or getting some work done.
QUESTION: Is CoolSculpting safe?
ANSWER: Yes. CoolSculpting is an FDA-cleared procedure and is proven to be both safe and effective for fat reduction.
QUESTION: What are the side effects?
ANSWER: While CoolSculpting is a generally safe procedure, there are some side effects. During the CoolSculpting session, patients may experience numbness, pulling, pinching, or overall discomfort. After the session is complete, patients may experience temporary numbness, swelling, bruising, redness, tingling, and pain. Rare side effects may occur. If you experience any rare side effects you should contact your doctor. CoolSculpting is not for people who suffer from paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria or cryoglobulinemia. QUESTION: Is CoolSculpting permanent?
ANSWER: CoolSculpting freezes your fat cells, causing them to die and then be processed and eliminated from the body. Once these fat cells are eliminated, they are gone for good. If a patient gains weight in the years following the procedure, they may gain this weight back all over the body, including the targeted area.
QUESTION: How long does it take to start seeing results from CoolSculpting?
ANSWER: Patients may see some initial changes within 3 weeks of their treatment. The most dramatic results will be seen around 2 months, however, your body will continue to process and eliminate these fat cells for up to six months post-treatment.
QUESTION: Is there a recovery period?
ANSWER: CoolSculpting is a non-invasive treatment with little to no recovery period, allowing patients to return to daily activities immediately.
